chARTer~tech 9th Grade Artists Accepted into “Give Something Back” Scholarship Program and Will Attend New Jersey Partner Colleges Tuition-free

SOMERS POINT, NJ, May 9, 2017 — Two 9th grade Artists from Chartertech High School for the Performing Arts have been selected to receive college scholarships through Give Something Back, a national organization devoted to mentoring and college scholarships for students facing economic adversity.

The students accepted into the Give Something Back Scholarship Program are:

  • Ahmir Campos
  • Jaden Turner

Each student completed Give Back’s rigorous application process, which included attending a family information meeting, completing a College Cost Estimator as well as an online application, and participating in in-person interviews. To apply for the scholarship program, students must be eligible for the Pell Grant and have a B grade point average.

The selected high school students will be paired with a mentor who advise and help prepare them for success at one of Give Back’s New Jersey partner colleges where they will graduate in four years without any debt for tuition, fees or room and board. Give Back’s partner colleges include Rowan University, The College of New Jersey, Montclair State University, Saint Peter’s University, William Paterson University, and New Jersey Institute of Technology.

About Giving Something Back

Give Back awards scholarships to academically driven students of modest means who might not otherwise attend college. Pell Grant-eligible students are selected in the ninth grade and mentored throughout high school. After graduation, Give Back scholars attend one of Give Back’s partner universities or colleges in Delaware, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. It is the focus of the organization to help students graduate college in four years, debt free for tuition, fees, or room and board.
