NJCSA Statement: Charter Regulatory Package Voted Forward by SBOE

Trenton, NJ — July 5, 2017 — We applaud the work of the State Board of Education to vote forward the regulatory package for NJ’s public charter schools. The new regulations balance increased oversight with autonomy. We are especially supportive of the regulations providing expedited renewals to high performing charter schools, increased access to facilities, and allowing for the establishment of single-purpose charter schools that will serve historically disadvantaged populations. We look forward to supporting our schools to flourish with the implementation of these new regulations.
